The Flame 04:14
THE FLAME (H. Kourkoutis) There was a time when these eyes would cry For a life they would miss If you should leave there would be a hole Where my heart is Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh What you don’t know Oh-oh-oh-oh Is that I want it Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh We could take it slow or burn down the wall ‘Cause when you’re calling out to me I cannot help but think that you want me to be That someone out there that's for you Maybe I could be the one your heart is given to Your love’s like chasing a flame Our dreams rained down in a new-found sky The picture so clear I want to sleep every single night And wake with you near Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh We both know Oh-oh-oh-oh That we want it Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh Let's let it go and burn in the fire ‘Cause when you’re calling out to me I cannot help but think that you want me to be That someone out there that's for you Maybe I could be the one your heart is given to Your love’s like chasing a flame I feel the flame I feel the flame comin' I feel the flame And you are bringing it ‘Cause when you’re calling out to me I cannot help but think that you want me to be That someone out there that's for you Maybe I could be the one your heart is given to Your love’s like chasing a flame © 2014 Hill Kourkoutis

DON'T BE THE MISTAKE (H. Kourkoutis/D. Downham) Why'd you think you could come onto me? Am I wearing a sign? I'm not an invitation for one of your lines What makes you think you would come home with me? Just go step behind the line It's not that kind of situation You're gonna say what you say But I could never be swayed Oooh Why'd you wanna be the mistake and take what you fake Oooh Why don't you just give it a break Don't be the mistake Don't be the mistake What makes you think it's a good idea To get up in my face? You're not part of the conversation get off of my case It's time a woman stood up to you And called you out on your game We don't need another altercation 'Cause when you say what you say I will never be swayed Oooh Why'd you wanna be the mistake and take what you fake Oooh Why don't you just give it a break Don't be the mistake Don't be the mistake You probably think that you are something great That you have some privileged personality trait But I wanna know when you come to me And you say what you say Would you talk to your own mother that way If the answer is no-- just walk away Oooh Why'd you wanna be the mistake and take what you fake Oooh Why don't you just give it a break Don't be the mistake Don't be the mistake © 2014 Hill Kourkoutis and Derek Downham

I DO I DO I DO (H. Kourkoutis) The stars exploded landing in my eyes And with the stab of an arrow my tears ran dry The beats pound so hard The rhythm's oh so fast How I hope, I'm hoping we can make this last You ask me if I feel it to, I do I do I do I do I do You ask me if I feel it to, I do I do I do I do Is this what they mean when they talk about the bees And the birds and the sun and the one and one Sweet love, this night is young And the moon is new I saw it written in the numbers it has to be you You ask me if I feel it to, I do I do I do I do I do You ask me if I feel it to, I do I do I do I do I do I'm trying to fly with wounded wings will you catch me? I'm falling fast, I'm falling hard, oh will you break my fall? I wanna be what you need, just like I need who you are I wanna see what you see, yeah we could have it all I wanna be what you need now that you came along That you came along You ask me if I feel it to, I do (I do I do I do I do) I gotta ask you if you want it 'Cause baby I do I do I do I do I'm trying to fly with wounded wings will you catch me? I'm falling, falling hard I wanna fall into you will you break me? Or will you be the one to break my fall? I'm trying to fly with wounded wings will you catch me? I wanna fall, fall into you Fall into I just wanna fall into you © 2014 Hill Kourkoutis

Hurt Me 05:00
HURT ME (H. Kourkoutis) Blame me For all that’s gone wrong ‘Cause we're two passing ships that will break at the hip In this swan song Shame me For all that has passed ‘Cause the tears that went dry when I swallowed that cry Were my last When the dark comes to rip you apart And the shadows consume all your heart When there’s no sunlight left in your days When there’s no other way— Just go on and hurt me Hurt me Come on and hurt me You know you want to Hate me I know you want to I can see in your eyes there’s that look you despise me You do When the card’s pulled and you hold The Tower And you’re facing your loneliest hour When the voices come warring in the waves When there’s no other way— Just go on and hurt me Hurt me Come on and hurt me You know you want to When there’s no other way— Just go on and hurt me Hurt me Come on and hurt me You know you want to © 2014 Hill Kourkoutis

about

After spending the better part of a decade touring with the likes of Serena Ryder and The Weeknd, directing music videos for Mother Mother and Sass Jordan and producing/writing for The Cliks and Eh440, Hill Kourkoutis is harnessing her many talents and experiences into one creative endeavor. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, the award-winning songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and filmmaker began performing and recording under the nom de band Hill & The Sky Heroes in 2011. Following a three year hiatus, The Sky Heroes are releasing the sequel to their 2012 debut, ’11:11’, a collaborative effort that featured many of her peers from the Toronto music scene including Adrian Eccleston (Drake/Kylie Minogue), Doc McKinney (The Weeknd/Esthero), Serena Ryder, Donna Grantis (Prince and 3RD EYE GIRL), Saidah Baba Talibah and Martha & The Muffins.

The follow-up, appropriately titled ‘The Great Year’, consists of a trilogy of EP’s to be released over the of course of twelve-months, slowly revealing the body of a sophomore LP. Engaging an eclectic amalgam of alt pop, electro and surf rock, ‘The Great Year’ shows a departure from Hill & The Sky Heroes’ debut collaborative effort. Mirroring Kourkoutis’ introspective personal journey during the project’s hiatus, the self-produced, written, performed and mixed EP’s exemplify an evolution from melancholia to revival.

'Dark Days', the first EP of the series, explores a period in this passage conveying the dichotomy between contempt and resistance and a longing for love and purpose. Bear witness as ‘The Great Year’ unravels in 2015 and Hill & The Sky Heroes’ quest from darkness to light reveals itself.
